Debagarh or Deogarh, is a city situated in the state of Odisha in eastern India. The Deogarh district, recognized as a separate administrative unit, was established on January 1, 1994, from the previously larger Sambalpur district in Odisha. The name Deogarh (Debagarh) translates to “Abode of Divinity” in English. A significant part of the former Bamanda or Bamra State is included within the boundaries of Deogarh district.
