Tulsi is attired in bridal garments, either a saree or a dupatta, while Shaligram symbolizes the groom. A priest conducts the wedding ceremonies, and devotees maintain a fast until the evening, during which they prepare bhog (offerings) for the occasion. Following the puja, the bhog is distributed among all attendees as prasad.

The English designation for tulsi is holy basil, while its scientific classification is Ocimum tenuiflorum. Tulsi is a flowering species belonging to the mint family, indigenous to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is often referred to as the Queen of the Herbs.

  • Make a mandap around the tulsi tree.
  • Put a red cloth on the tulsi tree.
  • Offer decorative things to the tulsi tree.
  • Do the ritual worship of Lord Ganesha and Shalagram.
  • Taking the idol of Lord Shalagram in your hand, perform the seven circumambulations of Tutsi.
  • After the aarti, the wedding ceremony is completed with the wedding songs.

Benefits for Rituals of Tulsi Marriage

Women observe fast on this day for happiness and prosperity. Observance of a vow on this day gives the fruit of Ashwamedha and a hundred Rajasuya yagnas. By observing this 11th fast, fortune is awakened. On this day, one should worship Lord Vishnu or one’s Ist Devi. On this day, chanting the mantra “om namo bhagavate vasudevaya namah” is beneficial.
