Holy Bakula Amavasya 2024 date 10th January 2024 and some where 11th January 2024. In the tree worship tradition, the festival of worshiping the mango tree is the new moon day of Baula or Bakula. Its other name is Baula Amavasya.
On this day, Amavasya , all the householders pray to the goddess for the protection of mangoes. On this day, cakes (Gaintha Pitha) are prepared at home. New inflorescence of mango is known as panicle is brought from the mango tree and served to the God for worship. On this day morning “Gaintha Pitha and Baula” are served to the Jagannath Mahaprabhu in the Shrimandir.
The new moon of Pausha month is called Bakula Amavasya. During this new moon, the fury of winter subsides, the mango trees sprout buds and welcome the seasonal spring.
