The Shiva Panchakshara Stotra is a stotra honoring the Hindu deity Shiva. It is believed to have been authored by the philosopher Adi Shankara and consists of five stanzas and the strength of the five sacred words, na-ma-shi-va-ya.

Namah Shivai is the Shiva Panchkhar Mantra and “Oh Namah Shivai” is the Shadaksha Mantra. Every Shiva devotee chants this mantra continuously. It is said that chanting this mantra destroys all sins. It is said in Skanda Purana that “He who lives in the heart of the mantra “Nama Shivaya” and “O Nama Shivaya” has no need for other mantras, tirthas, penances, sacrifices”.
Shiva Panchkhar and Shadakshar mantras are called Sanjivani mantras which have the power to destroy the knowledge of all the Vedas, Siddhi, supernatural and otherworldly happiness, and the sins of all births. It is believed that many wishes are fulfilled by reciting the Shiva Panchkhari mantra. If a person wishes to live a long life, chanting the Shiva Panchkhari mantra 1 lakh times while bathing in the Ganga will ensure long life.
- It is written in the scriptures that if you are afraid of premature death, touching the Asvastha tree and chanting the Shiva Panchakshiri mantra 11 times every Saturday will destroy this fear.
- Chanting this Panchakshiri mantra 1 lakh times during sunset and lunar eclipse will fulfill all desires.
- To get Vidya and Lakshmi chant Shiva Panchkhar Mantra 11 times, take water in anjuli and anoint Shiva Linga.
- By chanting the Shiva Panchkhari mantra 108 times daily and splashing water on the sun, long-standing diseases can be cured and cured.
- Chanting this mantra facing East or North direction 108 times daily on a rudraksha mala will result in crores of merit.
